This 24% threshold is the European standard for products labeled as 'lead crystal" and was a hallmark of the Cristal d'Argues Paris brand from its founding in 1968 unti approximately 2009. The lead content provides the characteristic weight, brilliance, and high refractive index associated with high-quality vintage crystal.

Because the "Cassandra" set is identified as vintage, it predates the brand's shift to lead-free materials (such as Diamax or Krysta) which begar around 2010.
