Vintage McNicol China "Tidal" Restaurantware 13.5" Serving Platter

Manufactured by the D.E. McNicol Pottery Company, which operated in West Virginia between 1914 and the early 1960s. These pieces were designed for the heavy-duty demands of diners, hotels, and railroad dining cars mid-century. 

Most frequently identified as Tidal, though you may find it listed as Green Wave or Jagged Scroll by collectors. If you look closely at the green "waves" or "scrolls" along the rim, there are sections that feature jagged, vertical lines. looking like the tines of a fork integrated into the scrollwork.

Made from vitrified china (stoneware), specifically made to be non-porous and highly resistant to chipping, cracking, and cutlery scratches.

Has a couple pits from manufacturing on the bottom, as shown in photos. Otherwise, no chips or cracks.
